POP UP: Landscape for Spring
This class focuses on the moribana (landscape) style of the Ohara School within Ikebana.
Students will work in a shallow container with a kenzan to create a simple spring landscape using seasonal materials such as branches, foliage, and flowers. The focus is on placement, proportion, and grouping to suggest natural scenery—such as ground, water, and plant growth—rather than decorative arrangement.
You will learn how to:
Build a basic landscape composition in moribana
Use line and mass to represent natural forms
Place materials to reflect how they grow in nature
Work with space and water as part of the design
Suitable for beginners. All materials provided.
You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
