All-day: Work with Chrysanthemums including Traditional Colour Scheme

  • Harbridge, Court Barn Lane Chichester, England, PO20 United Kingdom (map)

This class focuses on the beauty and significance of Chrysanthemums in Japanese floral design. Regarded as symbols of longevity, dignity, and nobility, Chrysanthemums have long held an important place in Ikebana and will serve as the focal point of this session.

You will explore different arrangement styles that highlight the unique form and seasonal presence of Chrysanthemums. The class also includes work with the Traditional Colour Scheme, where one or more materials must follow prescriptive colour guidelines rooted in seasonal and symbolic traditions.

Through this class, you will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural meaning, structural techniques, and visual impact of Chrysanthemums, while further developing your practical skills in Ikebana.

All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
