Designs with Peonies for Heika

This class focuses on the use of peonies within the Heika style of Ohara School ikebana. Heika is a traditional upright style arranged in tall containers, where materials are composed along a defined structural framework using the 3 main lines. The style emphasises vertical movement, clarity, and a natural sense of growth.

Students will examine the form and weight of peonies, and how to place them within this structure. Attention will be given to line, proportion, and the relationship between the principal stems and supporting materials such as branches and foliage.

Through guided practice, participants will work towards compositions that are direct, well-structured, and responsive to the character of the materials.

Suitable for students with some prior ikebana experience, this class offers a focused study of Heika arrangements using seasonal plant material.

All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
