Half-Day: Hana Mai & Moons

  • Harbridge, Court Barn Lane Chichester, England, PO20 United Kingdom (map)

Hana Mai & Moons
During this class we will cover the Hana Mai form, specifically in the context of the moons.
Hana Mai, meaning "dancing flowers", is a sculptural form of Ikebana rather than a traditional arrangement. It focuses on creating a sense of movement and rhythm, where the flowers seem to flow and interact with one another.
Students will study how Hana Mai differs from fixed classical forms, while still adhering to Ohara principles of structure, harmony, and restraint.

This class is intended to strengthen understanding of Ohara aesthetics while building confidence in expressive arrangement through Hana Mai.

Half day classes are £30. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
