Heika with Fixings
In the Ohara School curriculum, Heika is a foundational style created in a tall container using fixings to support the materials securely. There are three Heika methods: upright, slanting, and cascading. Upright Heika emphasizes strong vertical lines; slanting Heika introduces a gentle angle to suggest natural movement; and cascading Heika flows over the edge of the container, with stems and foliage creating a graceful downward flow. This class helps students develop confidence in using fixings while applying Ohara principles of balance, line, and spatial harmony to each Heika method.
All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
