Free Expression with Haiku
This class explores Free Expression in ikebana through the inspiration of haiku. Using the imagery, mood, and rhythm of a haiku poem, students translate words into floral form, allowing emotion and interpretation to guide the arrangement.
Rather than following a fixed style, students are encouraged to move beyond traditional conventions and experiment with materials, structure, and space. The focus is on personal interpretation, creative freedom, and discovery, while still maintaining a connection to the fundamental principles of ikebana.
Through guided exploration, this session helps students develop confidence in expressing their own artistic voice and discovering new possibilities in floral design.
All day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As the discipline of Ikebana follows a strict curriculum, if you are new to Ikebana, you will start at the beginning of the curriculum for any class you attend. You can find the curriculum here.
